Hugh Thomas

Teacher

 

My name is Hugh Thomas and I am a native speaking English Teacher originally from the Port of Dover, in the South East of Kent, England.

 

Having studied at St. Lawrence College in Ramsgate, I went on to study photography and graphic design at Swansea Art College in South Wales.

 

I have travelled extensively and worked in a variety of occupations including street theatre, circus and puppetry which have helped me to adapt my teaching style to the different groups of students.

 

Settling in Portugal in the mid nineties and coming to Lisbon in 2009,
I completed a CELTA (Cambridge English Language Teaching for Adults) course at International House Lisbon in November 2009 and have since then been working for the Language Academy.

 

I love to work with children and I think it's really important that they have fun and are enthused by the lesson. Our mission at the Language Academy is to lay the foundation of an interest and inquisitiveness in English so as they grow up, the language becomes second nature to them.
